Monday, January 30

Today students took their quiz over the fourth Dracula vocabulary list and different sentence structures. Homework is to read the article “The Zoophagus Maniac,” answer the questions, and consider how it relates to Chapter 18 (skim over Chapter 17 – you don’t have to do anything with it). the-zoophagous-maniac and dracula-reading-guide-chapter-18

After our discussion of the novel, we started work on an essay about altruism (for a major grade; altruism-essay-promptaltruism-essay-rubricrevenge-essay-counterargument-handout).

In terms of the schedule, I am going to slightly amend what I told 1st and 6th period:

-Tomorrow (Wednesday) we will quickly talk about Dracula, quickly talk about our next grammar objective, and then students will have the rest of class to write.

-On Thursday, we will quickly talk about Dracula and then students will have the rest of class to write.

-The essay will be due at the beginning of class on Friday.

Homework for tonight is to read Chapter 13 (dracula-reading-guide-chapter-13).
