Today we began collaborative essays about Romeo and Juliet: Romeo and Juliet Thematic Response. You will have part of tomorrow to continue working, and these are due (printed out and ready to turn in) on Friday.

We took a quiz over persuasion vocabulary today; if you missed it, please come make it up on Wednesday or Friday during lunch.Students also took the end-of-year Scholastic Reading Inventory (Lexile Assessment). If you were absent or did not get a chance to do it in class, you can complete it at home. Log on to the Hub, go to Digital Resources, and then English/Language Arts. Click the red icon with the white book that says “Scholastic Reading Inventory,” and then click the blue button that pops up. This is a district-mandated assessment, so it is very important that you complete it.

Tomorrow you will be studying for you persuasion vocabulary quiz (on Monday).

Today I gave you the UPDATED rubric for the grammar review project. Please make sure that the one that you are using says “REVISED” in big letters across the front.

We finished Romeo and Juliet, and then students had time to work on their two big projects. Please remember that we have a critical reading test over Romeo and Juliet on Monday.

1. We’re having a close-reading exam over Romeo and Juliet on Monday. It will have passages that we have read in class and passages that we have viewed from the film. The questions will be multiple-choice critical reading.
2. Students will work on a Shakespearean monologue project for a major grade. You will deliver your monologue on Thursday, May 5. Here is the rubric: Shakespearean Monologue Project
