After our discussion of Ying-ying and Lena’s last chapter, we finished up JLC Vocabulary List 3. With the remaining time, I asked students to begin reading a modern text that gives some insight into the novel – “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother” (The Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother). This is not for homework – I will give you time in class tomorrow to finish this. What is for homework is the next chapter (The Joy Luck Club Reading Guide 7).
