March 7, 2014

Today we focused on writing paired passage SARs (questions asking the writer to explain the relationship between two different pieces of text). Our two examples were songs from the Rolling Stones:

Here is the question, with copies of the lyrics.

Rolling Stones SAR

Students who didn’t finish in class today need to complete that SAR over the weekend and bring it in on Monday.

Other weekend stuff:

-No reading guide for TGC, but please get to page 200.

-Make sure your sentences (w/ participles) are ready to go for Monday, and they you are prepared for your vocab quiz.

-I’m offering an extra 100 (in the daily work category) if you would like to watch the first Lord of the Rings movie and write an SAR about it:

LOTR SAR

Have a good weekend!

March 6, 2014

Please bring headphones/earbuds (I think they’re called “earbuds,” but when I said that in class once, some of you made fun of me – so whatever they’re called) to class tomorrow, if possible.

Okay, so, whew. T-minus six days until spring break. Not that any of us are counting.

Today we covered that most exciting of grammatical forms, the participle. Here is the PowerPoint with notes and explanations of what you are to do with your vocabulary sentences for this week (due Monday, on paper), which I know you all finished today when I gave you time to work on them:
