Yearly Archives: 2016

Tuesday, February 2

Periods 1 and 3 finished up reading The Count of Monte Cristo in class today, while period 4 attended the special Leakey Foundation lecture on the origins of tuberculosis.

No additional homework for tonight – please just make sure your last reading guide is done. By “done,” I mean, “done by you” – as in, “not copied from a friend.”

Some items to remember:

  1. Please bring your laptops tomorrow, and on every day over the next two weeks as we work on a major research project.
  2. We’ll be meeting at the library on Thursday – go there instead of the classroom.
  3. You have your mock STAAR on Monday – meet in the MPR. We’ll talk more about this later.

Monday, February 1

Students took their vocabulary quiz over The Black Count today. If you were absent, please come make it up on Friday during lunch tutorials.

The substitute also passed out your final CMC Reading Guide! Here it is: CMC Reading Guide 10. This was originally supposed to be due on Tuesday, but I’m going to extend the deadline until Wednesday. Please put the word out to your friends via social media, since I didn’t get to tell you all in class today.

And fourth period – remember to meet at the MPR tomorrow for class!

Friday, January 29

Students wrote their essays on forgiveness, worth a major grade. If you missed this, please come make it up with me ASAP.

I also gave out the CMC Reading Guide 9 (due Monday): CMC Reading Guide 9.

And please make sure that you study for your vocabulary quiz over The Black Count!

I told everyone on Friday, but just a reminder – you will have a substitute on Monday. I will be overseeing the Mock STAAR for the Academic students (which you will be taking the following Monday – February 8).

Students in period 4, because I won’t have a chance to remind you on Monday, please remember that you are to meet at the MPR for class on Tuesday – we’ll be hearing a special speaker.

Monday, January 25

I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend!

We started today by going over the scandalous revelations of the most recent section of The Count of Monte Cristo. I passed out the next reading guide (due Wednesday): CMC Reading Guide 7. Then students took their vocabulary quiz. If you were absent, please come make it up on Friday during lunch tutorials.

Friday, January 22

Today students wrote their essays over happiness. There were no new materials, but please remember to study for your CMC Vocabulary 3 quiz (there will NOT be subjects and predicates or prepositional phrases on this quiz – although you will see those later) and be ready to turn your CMC Reading Guide 6 in.
