Hello from my teacher training on critical reading strategies!

What I have asked you to do today with your substitute is the following:

1. Khan Academy for subjects, predicates, subject complements, and objects
2. Vocabulary.com for List 3
3. Dracula Chapter 11 Reading Guide

We went over Dracula List 3 today — please be ready for those works (and review words from 1 and 2) for your quiz on Monday!

Today we did a lesson on direct and indirect objects — please see the “Grammar” section of the website for those materials. We will have some questions over those subjects on your quiz on Monday.

We spent all of today on our quiz and sentences! Homework was to read Chapter 8 and complete the reading guide.

Happy Friday! We began today with a piece of literary criticism and some multiple choice (The Zoophagous Maniac). Next, we listened to the “captain’s log” portion of Chapter 7. For homework, please finish reading that and complete the reading guide (and of course, turn it in through Turnitin.com).

Don’t forget to study for your quiz on Monday! There will be vocabulary, grammar review, subjects and predicates, and sentence composing with gerunds.

We spent most of Thursday working on some sentence composing with gerunds (Sentence Composing with Gerunds) — please remember that those will be on your quiz on Monday. With the rest of class, we looked at Chapter 6 of Dracula, in which we meet the lunatic Renfield! Homework was to finish the chapter and complete the reading guide.

On Wednesday, we had a lesson over subjects and predicated — those notes are under the “Grammar” tab. We finally took a break from Jonathan Harker in Dracula and instead got to hear from his fiance, Mina, and her best friend, Lucy, in Chapter 5. Homework was to finish and submit the reading guide.

After our lesson on Dracula Vocabulary List 2 today, we watched a portion of the 1931 film version of Dracula; students analyzed the film for the acting of two characters.

Homework is to read and complete the reading guide for Chapter 4 and submit it through Turnitin.com.

After we took our vocabulary and grammar quiz, we did a close look at some of the most interesting passages from Chapter 3. Homework was to complete the Chapter 3 reading guide.
