Happy weekend!
In class today, we discussed the second Hot Zone Reading Guide (#3 — The Hot Zone Reading Guide 3 — is due on Tuesday) and we practiced answering some multiple-choice questions using an article about the recent attempts to find a treatment for Ebola.
Your quiz on Monday will be over Hot Zone Vocab Lists 1 and 2 as well as some reading questions from The Hot Zone.
Students, please click here to help me gather some information for next year’s spring break trip.
Tomorrow we will have an extra credit movie: The Painted Veil. It should be finished by 6:00 PM — please join us if you would like!
Today we talked about The Hot Zone Vocabulary List 2. Make sure that you finish vocab.com by Sunday to prepare for your quiz on Monday!
We spent the second half of the period watching a short documentary about the recent Ebola outbreak in Liberia; students practiced analyzing the film for rhetorical strategies.
After our conversation about The Hot Zone today, students began looking at a related article called “Wild Flavor” — this isn’t for homework, and you’ll get a chance to finish it tomorrow during class.
We took our vocabulary quiz in class today, and afterwards students had a chance to work on the next reading guide (the hot zone reading guide 2), which will be due on Friday.
Today we went over the vocabulary from The Hot Zone List 1. Please study up and be ready for your quiz on Monday! Remember that Vocab.com must be completed by Sunday night.
After a quick chat about the podcast, students finished the mock STAAR. Most of you had some extra time, so I gave you the first Hot Zone reading guide (the hot zone reading guide 1), which will be due on Tuesday of next week. Remember that you can also be working on your vocab.com for Hot Zone List 1 (due Sunday night).
Today students began taking the Mock STAAR exam — hopefully this will help us to prepare for the real thing, which you will take in April.
Please remember that homework for tonight is to finish the podcast from yesterday!
Students are taking their quiz over appositives and gerunds today in class. Afterwards, I asked you to get started listening to this podcast and answering these questions (radiolab patient zero podcast questions). Your podcast questions will be due on Thursday.
